Walking vs. Running on a Treadmill: Which Workout Is Right for You?

Walking vs. Running on a Treadmill: Which Workout Is Right for You?

A steady treadmill walk can help you become more active while allowing you to gradually increase your workout time, speed, or incline as your fitness improves.

You don't have to start with an intense workout to make progress. Consistency matters.

2. Running Can Increase the Intensity

Running generally provides a more intense workout in a shorter period of time. For people who are comfortable with higher-impact exercise, treadmill running can be a convenient way to challenge endurance and improve overall conditioning.

Start at a pace you can control and increase the intensity gradually.

3. Incline Can Make Walking More Challenging

Speed isn't the only way to increase the difficulty of a treadmill workout.

Increasing the incline can make a walking workout more challenging without requiring you to run. This gives treadmill users another way to add variety and intensity to their routines.

4. You Can Combine Walking and Running

You don't necessarily have to choose one or the other.

Try alternating periods of walking with short periods of jogging or running. As your conditioning improves, you can gradually adjust the amount of time you spend at each pace.

This can also keep your treadmill workouts from becoming repetitive.

5. Choose the Workout You Can Maintain

The best workout isn't necessarily the hardest one. It's the workout that fits your fitness level, goals, and lifestyle well enough for you to keep doing it.

Whether you prefer walking, running, or a combination of both, regular movement is what matters.

At Fitness First Hub, we believe fitness equipment should help make staying active more convenient. Find a routine that works for you, stay consistent, and keep moving toward your goals.

Gear Up for Greatness.
